Flintriver Grundy Banjo.

My name is Laurie Grundy and I am a luthier and banjo player from Porepunkah Victoria Australia. I've been playing, building and repairing five string banjos since 1976.

My goal is to create banjos from the very best wood and hardware products available in the world today, and build them to the highest degree of precision and detail possible.

I am fortunate to work in conjunction with associated crafts people who are equal of the very best in the world in their respective fields. Denis Eastmure is simply the best shell inlay artist I've ever met anywhere and John Stanley is a brilliant and meticulous machinist who produces my F34 tone rings flanges and hoops to the very highest standard possible.

I've always believed that the pre-war classic era resonator banjo format is the best configuration for a bluegrass five string banjo and I build my instruments using that system. The main difference in my banjos is that I use the same 1934 formula alloy in all three major hardware items, (tone ring, flange and tension hoop), whereas pot metal was used in pre-war banjo flanges.
