When I first thought about ordering a custom banjo from Australia it seemed pretty complicated and scary and some of my friends and family did not encourage it at all. But since the banjo and maker were recommended by Lonnie and Charlene Hoppers (Lonnie is a professional musician and former "Bluegrass Boy"), I ordered one. It was simple and easy.
I did most of my communication over the internet but the telephone and regular mail also works well. In fact Laurie Grundy called me on the telephone and confirmed details and took great care to please me. This was without doubt one of the most rewarding and fun things I have ever done.
It has been my experience that Mr Grundy gives the very best service possible and followed through with all agreements. He has service in the United States if any is required. The instrument is of high quality and I could not be more pleased. I would not hesitate both to do business with him again, or recommend him to my friends.
"A Sheila's Banjo For You"

She heard a sound that struck her,
so sweet and yet so bold.
So she sent across the ocean for a banjo made of gold.
She met him when he brought it from across the ocean blue
to her doorstep in Missouri, "Oh my God this can't be true."
She gazed in amazement, her horse inlaid on the peg head,
And a tiny heart was glowing nestled close between the frets.
When she touched the strings she heard it, the bells from heaven above,
And the rumbling tones rang back to earth of thunder and of floods.
And so the creature came alive. It's name was now McT.
He said "It"s a Sheila banjo, matey, made for you by me."
He came from Down Under, the sun burned land below,
Where a cross glows in the Southern skies,
He made the gold banjo.
McT was born in Oz, conceived in the USA.
Our Aussie cousins love us,
And from them we must not stray.
